How much does The Little School cost?

Please call us at 651-690-5110 for rates and openings.

How do you deal with behavioral issues?

We find that redirection works most of the time and we very rarely have any major behavioral issues. If issues do arise, we work closely with parents to address the situation positively and productively.

Can my child go part-time?

Both our infant and toddler programs are full-time only. The preschool program offers 3, 4 or 5 full-day slots. Limited half-day slots are also available 3 or 5 mornings a week from 8:00 to 12:15.

Can my child withdraw in the summer but still go in the fall?

No. In order to hold a spot for your child in the fall, your preschooler must attend at least 2 days-per-week during the summer session. The infant and toddler programs are full-time only.

Do the children have any media time?

The Little School does not use any television or digital device interaction (computers, iPads, etc…). We believe that hands-on, real-world interactions are far more valuable for a child's development. Our exclusion of screen time is in-line with the recommendations from the American Academy of Pediatrics.

What about lunch?

Parents provide a cold lunch for their child each day. We check to make sure that each child's lunch is nutrition and substantive. We ask that you provide at least 1 grain, 2 fruits or vegetables, and 1 protein. We provide milk.

What about snacks?

The Little School provides children with healthy snacks every day. We will make accommodations for any allergies your child may have. For more information on when each snack time is, check the programs area of the website.

Are you a peanut-free environment?

We are peanut free. The Little School does not allow any foods containing peanuts inside the school. In addition, food cannot be processed in a facility that also processes peanuts. We take this allergy very seriously.

Does my child need to be potty trained to attend the preschool program?

We ask that any child starting our preschool program is mostly potty trained and that children wear underwear at both preschool and at home. However, children will have accidents, and we never shame or embarrass them when it happens. Children at this age are learning so many things, and we are here to help.

My child is not quite 33 months old, but I think she/he is ready for preschool. Can she/he attend?

Give us a call to discuss at 651-690-5110. We understand that every child develops at a different rate.

Will The Little School fit my child's personality?

The beauty of incredibly small class sizes and ratios is that we can adapt to the needs of any child. Many different kinds of children thrive and flourish here.

Do you take field trips?

Occasionally, we will walk to the local library for their group programming, particularly in the summer months.

Why is there no playground?

Our outdoor play area for preschoolers very intentionally provides structures that inspire imagination.  This type of symbolic, socio-dramatic play encourages negotiation, listening, sharing, taking turns, and respecting others’ feelings, thoughts, ideas, and physical space.  Additionally, our children have ample opportunities for gross motor skill play throughout the day. We do many games and activities that encourage physical development, and our toddlers have their own age-appropriate climbing equipment in our backyard.

Can we stop by at any time to visit our children?

Absolutely.  We have an open door policy that states that parents are welcome to stop up during operating hours to see the school or children.  We also encourage parents to stop in with grandparents!
